Who stands behind Noosphere, on what terms it may be used, and what you can and cannot do with what is inside it.

1. Who is responsible for this site

2. What Noosphere is, and what it is not

Noosphere is a document tool. It gathers scientific literature and public-interest writing on psychoactive substances, connects them into a graph of concepts, and answers questions by citing the documents it relies on. Its method and its known limits are described, in detail and without decoration, in Method and limitations.

Noosphere is a tool for information and risk reduction. It does not promote the use of any substance, does not sell any, and does not help anyone obtain one. Describing what the literature says about a substance — including doses, interactions and adulterants — is documenting, not prescribing; hiding it does not prevent use, it only makes it more dangerous.

3. Conditions of access

Access to the site is free. Some features require an account and, where applicable, a subscription; their terms are in Terms of use and purchase.

Use of Noosphere is restricted to people aged 18 or over. By using the site you declare that you are.

Anyone accessing the site agrees to do so lawfully and in line with this notice, and not to use it to damage or overload it, to extract its content in bulk, or to impersonate others. The owner may suspend access for anyone who breaches this, without prior notice.

4. Intellectual property

4.1 What is ours

The name Noosphere, its symbol, the design of the site, its original texts, the application code and the structure of the concept graph — the selection, arrangement and linking of the corpus — belong to the owner, who reserves the rights granted by Spanish intellectual property law and, as regards the database, by its article 133 (the sui generis database right).

4.2 What belongs to others

The corpus gathers third-party work. Over that work the owner claims no rights, and applies the following:

• The index, the bibliographic metadata and short quotations are freely consultable, under the right of quotation in article 32 of Spanish intellectual property law.
• Noosphere does not republish the full text of third-party works. When an answer relies on a document, it links to the original so it can be read where it belongs.
• Full text is only retained in the system when the work is open access, when it belongs to the project itself, or when its author or publisher has expressly authorised its inclusion.
• To compose an answer, the relevant passages are transmitted to the language model provider. That is explained in the Privacy policy.

4.3 If you believe your work is here and should not be

Write to noosphere@psiconautica.org stating: the work concerned, the link or identifier of the document inside Noosphere, your standing as rights holder or representative, and what you are asking for. We reply within ten working days at most, and if the claim is well founded the document is removed from the corpus and the graph without argument.

The same channel works the other way round: if you are an author or publisher and want your work in the corpus, we review it and add it with credit.

5. Links to other sites

Noosphere links constantly to third-party documents and sites: that is the point of it. Those links imply neither endorsement nor control over their content, which belongs to whoever publishes it. If a link leads to unlawful content, tell us and it comes down.

6. Liability

• On answers. They are generated automatically and may be incomplete, out of date or incorrect. The owner is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of an answer without checking its sources.
• On the corpus. It gathers documents of very different quality and age — from clinical trials to grey literature — which is why every answer states the level of evidence of what it cites. A document being in the corpus does not mean the owner endorses what it says.
• On the service. It is provided as is, with no commitment to uninterrupted availability. It may stop for maintenance, technical failure, or by decision of the owner.
• On use by others. The owner is not liable for what third parties do with the content of this site.

7. Changes

This notice may be amended to keep up with the law or with the service itself. The version in force is always the one published at this address, with its update date shown above.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

This notice is governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, and unless consumer legislation imposes another forum, the parties submit to the Courts of Puerto del Rosario (Las Palmas, Spain).
